Nurse Practitioner (NP) Pediatric Hematology Oncology - Trinity Health Oakland

About the Role

Provides care to pediatric and young adult hematology/oncology patients. Oversees pediatric infusion center (infusion primarily for hematology, oncology, and gastroenterology patients) and responds to urgent medical needs. Coordinates care between multi-disciplinary team, including outpatient, infusion, and inpatient care teams. Evaluates patients in outpatient pediatric hematology/oncology clinic, both under supervision of physician and independently. Orders outpatient chemotherapy under physician supervision. Performs procedures, including bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, and intrathecal chemotherapy administration. Collaborates with clinical nurses on patient education, support, and care coordination, including via telephone encounters. Assists in admission of pediatric hematology/oncology patients to hospital. Consults with other hospital providers on patient care. Assumes additional duties as needed and works within scope of licensure.

Required Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner

• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
• Current specialty certification as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan OR as a Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner with 2 years of RN or NP experience managing pediatric hematology/oncology patients.
• Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
• DEA license
• PALS certification (or ability to obtain prior to start date).
• Two or more years of clinical experience in inpatient pediatric hematology/oncology
• Two or more years of advanced practice provider experience

Physician Assistant

• Current licensure to practice in the State of Michigan.
• Satisfactory completion of physician assistant program accredited by ARC-PA or one of its predecessors agencies.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• DEA license
• PALS certification (or ability to obtain prior to start date).
• Two or more years of clinical experience in inpatient pediatric hematology/oncology
• Two or more years of advanced practice provider experience

Pay & Schedule

Pay: Full Time Salary range: $130,630 - $200,734 / year

Schedule: 20 hours per week. Primary daytime coverage with potential for off shifts. Location: Trinity Health Oakland with potential crossover at C.S. Mott Childrens Hospital.
