About the role

Gateway Regional Medical Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our Emergency Services team. The position offers comprehensive benefits, competitive compensation, and opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Performing comprehensive patient assessments, medical histories, and physical examinations
  • Evaluating, diagnosing, and treating acute illnesses and injuries across a wide range of patient populations
  • Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging, and other tests
  • Developing individualized treatment plans and prescribing medications and therapies in accordance with Illinois law and collaborative practice agreements
  • Performing emergency procedures within your scope of practice and responding rapidly to changing patient conditions
  • Collaborating closely with emergency physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and ancillary staff to provide exceptional patient care
  • Maintaining accurate, timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Educating patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program
  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure
  • National Nurse Practitioner certification in an applicable specialty (FNP, AGACNP, or related specialty)
  • Current BLS and ACLS Certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • Current DEA registration and Illinois Controlled Substance License
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency care environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
