Nurse Practitioner - All Las Vegas Culinary Locations - Per Diem 10 Hour / 12 Hour Rotating Shifts (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

About the Role

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) has specialized skills and knowledge related to the setting in which they practice. The NP performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, and provides direct patient care services according to established evidence-based clinical practice standards. The NP contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, consulting, and provides leadership to advance the practice profession.

The NP functions as part of inter-professional teams, communicating, planning, and implementing care directly with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, pharmacists, office support staff, and other advanced practice providers (APPs). Under general supervision, the NP performs physical examinations, treats common episodic and chronic healthcare problems, counsels patients and families, monitors patient progress, and assists with medical research projects.

Responsibilities

• Conducts in-depth interviews with patients and/or family, constructs comprehensive medical histories, and performs initial and periodic physical examinations.
• Identifies and treats patients’ diseases, manages treatment of hospitalized patients, and directly performs or orders appropriate diagnostic studies.
• Develops and implements long and short-range treatment plans.
• Performs procedures such as obtaining specimens, injections, immunizations, lumbar punctures, skin biopsies, suturing, wound care, and management of trauma or infection.
• Writes orders to adjust medication, subject to physician review.
• Initiates consultations and monitors scheduling of patients for special tests.
• Identifies and records pertinent progress of patients, updates and summarizes charts, changes orders when appropriate, and notifies physicians of changes in patient condition.
• Instructs and counsels patients and families regarding preventive care, medical problems, psychological issues, and prescribed treatments.
• Acts as liaison with governmental agencies such as the Center for Disease Control and National Institute of Health.
• Assists with medical research projects, obtains Investigational Review Board approval for treatment protocols, and researches community resources for patient referrals.
• Maintains compliance with established policies, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Participates in in-service education programs and professional associations.
• Leads activities such as managing clinical aspects of the clinic, patient rounding, nursing performance improvement, staff evaluations, scheduling, and training new employees.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited school of Nursing (MSN).
• 5 years of clinical nursing experience (combined education/experience may substitute).
• Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
• Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions, with the ability to perform duties successfully.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license from the CA Board of Registered Nursing.
• Nurse Practitioner (NP) license from the CA Board of Registered Nursing.
• Nurse Practitioner Furnisher license from the CA Department of Consumer Affairs.
• DEA Certificate for Schedule II-V controlled substances.
• National Board Certification in a Nurse Practitioner specialty accredited by ABSNC or NCCA. If working in a hospital/acute care setting, certification from ANCC or AACN as an Acute Care NP or Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required for hospital/acute care and ambulatory infusion center settings).
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) certification, if applicable.

For Las Vegas locations: NV State Board of Nursing RN license, NP license with specialized certification (ACNP, ANP, FNP, or AGNP), unrestricted DEA Certificate with Nevada address, valid Nevada Board of Pharmacy certificate, and USC credentialing within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish.

Pay
