Nurse (Outpatient)

About the role

Nurses at the Indian Health Service (IHS) are dedicated to improving the health of American Indian and Alaska Native communities. They provide compassionate care in areas where it is most needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate care to patients in underserved communities
• Implement evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans
• Provide education and training to community members on health promotion and disease prevention
• Participate in research projects to advance healthcare knowledge and practices

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required. Additional requirements may include:

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Experience working in a healthcare setting serving American Indian and Alaska Native populations
• Knowledge of cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse communities

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• Master’s degree in Nursing
• Experience in leadership roles within healthcare settings
• Certified in a relevant specialty area

Skills

• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems
