Nurse (Outpatient)

About the role

Nurses at the Indian Health Service (IHS) play a vital role in delivering compassionate care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Guided by the IHS mission to improve the health of these populations, nurses provide essential medical services where they are most needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality medical care to patients in underserved areas.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.
• Conduct health screenings and preventive care services.
• Document patient interactions and treatments accurately and timely.

Requirements

• A current license to practice nursing in the state where you intend to work.
• Experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in an IHS facility.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Passion for serving and improving the health of American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Completion of a National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN).
