Nurse Navigator Pediatric Hematology Oncology

About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) Navigator provides individualized support to patients, families, and caregivers to help them successfully navigate the healthcare system and overcome barriers to care. This role enhances the patient experience and clinical outcomes by ensuring a seamless, coordinated care journey across the continuum. The RN Navigator collaborates closely with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to triage, coordinate, and manage patient care, serving as a consistent point of contact and trusted resource for patients and families.

Key Responsibilities

• Support shared decision-making and patient engagement by building strong, trust-based relationships
• Address communication and health literacy needs
• Help patients integrate their values and preferences into treatment decisions
• Contribute to strategic initiatives within the clinical program or service line, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of navigation activities to support program sustainability
• Advocate for positive outcomes for patients, providers, and the Sutter Health system

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• RN-Registered Nurse of California licensure
• BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
• Minimum of three years of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology nursing experience
• APHON or ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider Card (initial certification and biennial recertification required)
• 5 years recent relevant experience preferred

Required Skills

• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to ensure follow through with responsibilities and communicate with a varied level of health care staff
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Microsoft Office software experience required, including Excel and Word
• Knowledge of third-party reimbursement helpful

Schedule

• Per Diem/Casual status
• Day shifts
• Monday - Friday
• No weekend requirements

Pay

$82.48 to $115.46 / hour
