Nurse Manager, Urology - Full-Time, Days
About the role
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Nurse Manager at our DCAM clinic. Here, you will work alongside our Urology clinic team. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the recruitment and selection of unit staff.
- Determines staffing needs in consultation with physician director and assures proper scheduling and utilization of services in maintaining quality patient care.
- Aids staff members in identifying learning needs and promotes staff participation in professional and institutional activities.
- Assists in the development and review of policies, procedures, and standards.
- Confers with physicians and supervisors concerning the care and treatment of individual patients.
- Evaluates and revises orientation plan as necessary.
- Collaborates with medical director on quality assurance issues.
- Collaborates with medical director in collecting data for staff meetings, research, reports and evaluation.
- Ensures that appropriate staff attend mandatory educational programs and in-services per JCAHO regulations.
- Assists in providing patient care and obtaining necessary documentation for a wide variety of research protocols.
- Monitors expenditures throughout the year, and takes required corrective action.
- Promotes cost containment programs.
- Assumes accountability for own nursing practice and professional growth.
- Acts as a role model to promote professional growth and clinical competence.
- Participates as appropriate in educational programs designed to promote professional growth and development, including planning, teaching and coordination of education programs.
Requirements
Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the State of Illinois. Five or more years nursing experience required. Demonstrated clinical and/or leadership skills that serve as a role model for subordinates. Excellent organizational skills. Computer proficiency. Considerable skill in determining priorities, working independently, and exercising sound judgment. High degree of initiative and problem-solving ability. Considerable skill in communicating verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure. Maturity; ability to exercise judgment and assume responsibility. Willingness to learn new systems and processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, but experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Ambulatory nursing experience.
- Two or more years of experience with surgical procedures.
- Several years in a nursing leadership capacity preferred.
- Familiarity with UCH Information Systems (Epic, Last Word, OACIS).
