Nurse Manager - Short Stay Unit

About the Role

The registered professional Nurse Manager facilitates day-to-day operations, leads, develops, and represents the department in service line initiatives. They are accountable for managing patient care during a designated time frame, including coordination, evaluation, teaching, and delegation of patient activities to healthcare team members. Responsibilities encompass day-to-day operations, scheduling, staffing, and 24/7 accountability for patient care delivery with nearly 80 FTEs (primarily RNs, along with techs and clerical staff). The role involves planning and evaluating services for one or more clinical areas, participating in strategic development, and supporting outcomes management for nursing service line or department improvements within multi/specialty units. The Nurse Manager provides clinical and administrative leadership to ensure safe, superior, and preeminent quality patient care, advancing clinical practice. They collaborate with directors and key leaders to develop and implement operational plans, goals, and objectives.

Requirements

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
• Current Michigan nursing license
• Three years of clinical nursing or unit-level leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate customer-focused interpersonal skills to lead, interact, and collaborate with hospital personnel, surgeons, anesthesia providers, and customers
• Utilize critical thinking to identify and solve problems, implementing solutions
• Develop and implement effective ongoing communication processes for optimal information distribution within nursing services, among physicians, other health team members, and hospital departments
