Nurse Manager - Short Stay Unit

About the Role

To facilitate the day-to-day operations, lead, develop, and represent the department in service line initiatives. The registered professional is accountable for the management of patient care during a designated time frame, including coordination and evaluation of care, teaching, and delegation of patient activities to other healthcare team members. Responsible for day-to-day operations, scheduling, staffing, and providing 24/7 accountability for patient care delivery with nearly 80 FTEs (primarily RNs with some techs and clerical staff), planning, and evaluation of services for one or more clinical areas. The unit manager participates in and supports strategic development and outcomes management of the nursing service line and/or department improvements within multi and/or specialty units. They review and evaluate operations and services in accordance with business requirements, marketplace trends, and technological needs. Provides clinical and administrative leadership for planning, organizing, directing, monitoring, and evaluating safe, superior, and preeminent quality patient care to ensure the advancement of clinical practice and patient care for a nursing unit. Collaborates with and supports directors and key leaders in the development and implementation of operational plans, goals, and objectives.

Requirements

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
• Current Michigan nursing license
• Three years of clinical nursing or unit-level leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates customer-focused interpersonal skills to lead, interact, and collaborate with hospital personnel, surgeons, anesthesia providers, and customers
• Utilizes critical thinking to identify and solve problems and implement solutions
• Develops and implements effective ongoing communication processes for optimal distribution of information within nursing services, among physicians, other health team members, and hospital departments
