Nurse Manager (RN) – Emergency Department
About the role
Lead One of Connecticut’s Premier Emergency Departments Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center is seeking an experienced and dynamic Nurse Manager to lead their high-performing Emergency Department.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Emergency Department.
- Lead staffing, recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management initiatives.
- Foster a positive, collaborative culture that supports employee engagement and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, infection prevention, and patient safety standards, including DPH and The Joint Commission requirements.
- Promote high-quality, patient-centered care and exceptional clinical outcomes through partnerships with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, patient experience strategies, and department performance goals.
- Manage departmental operations, resources, and workflow to ensure efficient and effective patient care delivery.
- Champion a culture of safety, accountability, compassion, and excellence.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program, Active and unrestricted Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license, Proven nursing leadership experience in an Emergency Department setting, Strong preference for current or recent experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center Emergency Department, Demonstrated ability to lead teams, improve operational performance, and drive patient care excellence.
- Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
- Five (5) or more years of combined Emergency Department clinical and leadership experience.
- Charge Nurse experience with significant responsibility for staff coordination, patient flow, clinical oversight, and operational leadership.
- TNCC certification strongly preferred.
Benefits
The salary range for this position is $100,776 – $161,200. Compensation is based on experience, education, skills, and qualifications. As an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), pay will be provided as a salary equivalent within the stated range. Compensation may vary based on experience and internal equity considerations.
