Nurse Manager - Medical/Neuro ICU

About the role

You would be joining the Ayer Neuroscience Institute at Hartford Hospital in the position of Nurse Manager on the Bliss 9i which is a 16-bed unit composed of a combination Neuroscience and Medical ICU.

Responsibilities

• Support the management, budgeting, staffing and patient care for the combined ICU.
• Partner with the Nurse Director to manage the unit.
• Ensure quality, cost-effective delivery of patient services for specific patient populations.
• Manage resources (human, material and financial) to support the unit-based shared governance councils.
• Report to the Director of Nursing for the Ayer Neuroscience Institute.

Requirements

• Current Connecticut Registered Nurse license required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Master's degree preferred.
• One degree must be in Nursing.
• ICU and Neuroscience Experience Preferred.
• Certification in nursing administration required within 5 years of assuming position.
• Minimum 3 years relevant clinical experience.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Demonstrated progressive leadership skills.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills required.

Qualifications

• Exceptional candidates in the process of completing the educational requirement will be considered.
• Continued progress toward completion of the educational requirement within five years will be required.

Skills

Functioning within the framework for professional nursing practice, the Patient Unit Manager supports and assists the Director. This position has 24 hour accountability for managing resources (human, material and financial), to ensure quality, cost-effective delivery of patient services for specific patient populations, in a defined area across the continuum.
