About the role
The Labor and Delivery Unit at North Alabama Medical Center offers obstetrics and gynecology care, as well as pediatrics, breast health, and educational classes for new and expecting mothers. The L&D unit features two HOPE Suite rooms designed for natural births, equipped with a laboring tub, Bluetooth monitoring system, birthing balls, and birthing swing.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the patient care in the Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring quality patient care, nursing staff performance, and staff development.
- Serves as a patient-care innovator, utilizing specialized plan-of-care intervention to shape exceptional patient journeys.
- Works collaboratively with other departments, physicians, and schools of nursing to promote effective teamwork and problem-solving.
- Manages the unit under stressful conditions and irregular hours, ensuring efficient and safe patient care.
Requirements
- Current state RN license.
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification.
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications.
- Four years of nursing experience in L&D.
