Nurse Manager-GI Services (Exempt, Days)

Position Summary

The Nurse Manager, under the direction of the Director of Surgery Services, assists with the development, maintenance, and evaluation of an environment that supports the practice of nursing and the delivery of high quality patient care on a twenty-four hour basis for GI Services. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the monitoring of staff and quality of procedures in their area of supervision. The Nurse Manager is responsible for carrying out assignments in a manner to support success in patient care, financial management, human resources management, leadership, quality and operational management objectives. The Nurse Manager participates in program development and unit performance improvement. The Nurse Manager may fulfill the role of the Charge Nurse, or provide direct patient care or education as needed. The Nurse Manager consistently demonstrates the core values of Enloe Medical Center and serves as a role model to other employees.

Minimum: EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE

• Five years cumulative experience in GIO
• One year of supervisory experience in the relevant area of expertise
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field
• Two years Critical Care experience

Desired

• Membership in a professional organization and attendance to conferences regarding management and supervision of employees
• Certified Gastrointestinal Registered Nurse (CGRN)

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality improvement processes
• Ability to successfully integrate these into practice for the assigned unit
• Knowledge of or ability to learn financial management and reporting, quality improvement processes, and human resources management
• Ability to effectively monitor, evaluate and administer the resources of their assigned area, and make substantiated recommendations regarding resource allocation needs for future planning purposes
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally both one-on-one and in groups
• Ability to lead, motivate, delegate, analyze information and problem solve
• Technical competence, professional clinical judgment
