About the role
A student nurse who is within their last 4 weeks of school or has graduated and awaiting boards in an RN education program including successful completion of one quarter/semester of clinical experience.
Responsibilities
- Assists in delivery of patient care under the direction of a RN.
- Provides care for patients according to nursing standards, protocols, procedures, and evidence-based practices.
- Affirms the nursing process.
- Affords patient assessment.
- Assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
- Implements patient care.
- Administers routine treatments.
- Communicates patient information.
- Documents information using the “OPIE” documentation process.
- Charges equipment and supplies.
- Care of the environment and equipment.
- Interpersonal skills:
- Communicates with other health team members, patients, and visitors.
- Utilizes good guest relations.
- Maintains adaptability.
- Participates as a unit team member.
- Reports problems.
- Demonstrates Service Excellence.
Requirements
- High school graduate;
- Currently enrolled in an approved RN program (A.D., diploma, BSN).
- Candidate must be committed to an RN position at Firelands Health.
- Ability to provide proof from educational institution of good standing in program and currently in final semester.
- Must complete nurse intern competency check list.
- Must be currently certified in CPR (and recertified bi-annually).
- Provides nursing care under direction of registered nurse.
