Nurse Intern

About the Role

The Nurse Extern I performs direct patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assisting with hospitalized patient care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Identify and report life-threatening situations; assist with basic life support when needed.
• Observe and report unusual symptoms, changes in vital signs, or skin issues.
• Document accurately, assist with lab specimen collection, and ensure proper use of supplies and equipment.
• Follow aseptic techniques, universal precautions, safety protocols, and HIPAA guidelines.
• Participate in educational programs and departmental meetings; adhere to dress code and hygiene standards.
• Report patient/family concerns and changes in patient condition promptly.
• Complete all educational requirements and maintain good standing in the nursing program.

Requirements

• Current enrollment or recent graduation from an accredited nursing program (associate or bachelor’s).
• Proficiency in basic nursing skills; hospital experience preferred.
• Must obtain AHA BLS certification within two weeks of employment.
• Ability to adhere to safety, infection control, and confidentiality policies.
