Nurse Intern

About the Role

The Nurse Extern I supports registered nurses by performing direct patient care activities aligned with department policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care, reporting life-threatening situations, and supporting basic life support when needed.
• Observe and report abnormal symptoms, changes in patient condition, and family concerns.
• Maintain aseptic techniques, follow universal precautions, and accurately document information.
• Help with laboratory specimen collection and ensure compliance with safety and infection control protocols.
• Participate in educational programs and departmental meetings, adhering to hospital policies and HIPAA regulations.
• Follow dress code, personal hygiene, and safety guidelines; complete required educational requirements.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited nursing program, with good standing and clinical experience.
• Proficient in basic nursing tasks; hospital experience preferred but not required.
• Active AHA BLS certification within two weeks of employment.
