About the role
This is a 100% onsite position located at Mount Sinai Morningside, 1111 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, NY 10025.
Responsibilities
- Serves as an advisory resource to effectively utilize clinical information systems.
- Acts as a liaison/problem solver between nursing staff and IT staff to ensure patient care is captured and reflected in the EMR.
- Reports feedback on new changes to clinical staff.
- Collaborates with other disciplines to create or streamline documentation to ensure efficiency of time.
- Demonstrates expertise in clinical care of patients, medical center operations, and clinical informatics.
- Serves as a role model for bridging clinical care and information technology within assigned units.
- Participates in business process analyses, needs assessment, and cost/benefit analyses to align IT solutions with business initiatives.
- Utilizes information technology to attain excellence in high-quality patient outcomes, regulatory requirements, and financial initiatives.
- Participates in clinical informatics technology projects from readiness assessment and planning to implementation and ongoing educational needs.
- Develops policies and procedures related to system usage and clinical workflow requirements.
- Prioritizes and delegates tasks as needed to less experienced Nurse Informaticians.
- Demonstrates expert knowledge of the system and provides guidance to staff in analyzing issues and developing potential solutions.
- Demonstrates excellent presentation and facilitation skills when working with staff or other project team members.
- Demonstrates excellent ability to appropriately determine escalation levels of system issues.
- Maintains system integrity by monitoring clinical systems interfaces and error logs; communicates and facilitates the sharing of information regarding supplies/implants to update the Supply Chain inventory database and transmit Finance Charges accordingly.
- May participate in Performance Improvement initiatives.
- Participates in QI Committee meetings and initiatives.
Qualifications
Education Requirements
Master’s degree in Nursing Informatics or equivalent experience and education is preferred.
Experience Requirements
- 5 years of experience in Information Technology/Computer Science and/or clinical healthcare discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge of current/evolving patient care delivery models and challenges and hospital operations with an appreciation for information systems theory and design.
- Expertise in clinical care of patients, medical center operations, and clinical informatics.
