About the role
Medical City Arlington, a 435‑plus‑bed full‑service hospital in south Arlington, is seeking a Nurse Extern for its PRN Float Pool. As a valued member of the nursing team, you will gain hands‑on experience while exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role, delivering safe, compassionate care and building the skills needed for advanced responsibilities.

Responsibilities
- Provide essential patient care by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene.
- Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures while gaining competency.
- Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to maintain seamless, coordinated patient care.
- Help patients and families understand care plans and offer guidance for health and recovery.
- Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection‑prevention practices, managing equipment, and keeping an organized environment.
- Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and partner with a supervisor or preceptor to develop a personal career development plan.
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of the employment start date.
- Enrollment in an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
- Completion of foundation, fundamental, or Med‑Surg I clinical coursework.
