Shift: PRN, 12-hour shifts
About the Role
This position will float through Med Surg, Telemetry, Emergency Dept, ICU, and other areas as directed. There are multiple openings for this role.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic patient care activities under the supervision of an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
- Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Maintain patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean, and orderly.
- Assist in patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures.
- Transport patients safely using appropriate means of transportation.
- Assist with meeting the nutritional needs of patients by passing meal trays and snacks, feeding patients who are unable to feed themselves, and picking up trays after use.
- Observe and report the skin condition of every assigned patient, with assessments for moderate or high-risk patients every shift.
- Measure and record intake (NPO, % diet/snack, fluids consumed by mouth, etc.) and output (Foley, drains, etc.).
- Support a family-centered, patient-focused environment in all interactions with patients, families, visitors, and volunteers.
- Collect, label, and transport specimens.
- Perform point-of-care testing according to department policy.
- Provide clerical support to the unit.
- Insert and remove Foley catheters utilizing sterile technique.
- Demonstrate understanding of properly collecting timed specimens and follow the sequence in case of interruption.

Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a Nursing Program and have successfully completed the first semester of an accredited nursing program.
- BLS certification required.
