Nurse Extern PRN Arrhythmia Care Unit
About the role
As a Nurse Extern, you’ll be a valued part of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience as you explore the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You’ll help deliver safe, compassionate care that improves patients’ lives while building the skills and confidence to take on more advanced responsibilities as you progress through your nursing program. Chippenham Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, offers a 460+ bed acute care facility on the Southside of Richmond, recognized as a Level I Burn and Trauma Center, Joint Commission Gold Seal, and top performer in stroke, heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, perinatal care, joint replacement, and surgical care.
Responsibilities
- Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
- Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow in your competency
- Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated
- Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery
- Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
- Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan
Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Must be currently enrolled in an RN program
- No travel required
- No prior experience required
Pay
Hourly Wage Estimate: $16.02 - $22.43 / hour. The estimate displayed represents the typical wage range of candidates hired.
