About the Role

You will assist in the delivery of patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Report to the job as scheduled or give proper notification of absence.
• Perform delegated tasks within job description in a timely manner.
• Follow all standard safety precautions and utilize appropriate measures to promote and maintain patient safety.
• Maintain a safe environment.
• Perform kitchen, transport, and supply duties as assigned.
• Observe and report pertinent information to the nurse; document on patient record.
• Document tasks performed on the patient record.
• Annually complete required competency assessments; maintain necessary job knowledge and skills documented in Nursing Administration.
• Participate in change of shift report and team conference.
• Demonstrate knowledge of procedures to be followed in fire or disaster situations.
• Utilize principles of growth and development and the aging process when providing nursing care to patients ranging in age from neonate to geriatrics.
• Demonstrate a caring attitude in relationships with others.
• Utilize appropriate communication to establish a relationship with patient and family.
• Utilize interpersonal techniques that facilitate a productive relationship while working with colleagues and personnel.
• Seek assistance as needed.
• Accept reassignment as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
• Follow the standards of conduct and policies and procedures of St. Mary’s Medical Center and applicable laws and regulations; report violations through the appropriate chain of command.
• Demonstrate knowledge of operation, including but not limited to required unit-specific equipment/procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of ongoing unit-specific performance improvement activities.
