About the Role

Provides direct patient care under supervision, assisting licensed staff with clinical tasks and ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities

• Completes documentation of patient conditions, reactions, and progress accurately and promptly.
• Assists with patient rooming, gowning, and vital signs monitoring.
• Places patients on cardiac monitors as needed, performs hourly rounds, and responds to call lights.
• Supports clinical tasks such as head-to-toe assessments, medication history collection, urinary catheterization, dressing changes, NG placement, and specimen collection.
• Chaperones pelvic exams, assists with splinting, and helps patients with essential needs.
• Maintains infection control, prepares patient areas, and manages equipment appropriately.
• May perform LPN duties with appropriate authorization.
• Participates in CPR rotations and ensures proper documentation using EMR systems.

Requirements

• Completion of Nursing Fundamentals or graduation from an accredited practical nursing program.
• Current licensure by the State of Michigan Board of Nursing.
• BLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Optional: Nurse aide certification and proficiency in computer documentation.
• Strong communication, reasoning, and time-management skills; ability to work with diverse populations.
• Ability to handle stressful situations, work with infectious materials, and perform physical tasks including lifting over 50 lbs.
