Nurse Extern

Shift: 3 Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Pool FTE: 0.010000)

About the role

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nurse Extern provides basic nursing skills and care within the patient and family centered care model. Nursing skills include assisting with personal care, phlebotomy, EKG, and other basic nursing tasks to facilitate quality service outcomes.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a BSN program and completion of at least the third year of the program.
• Or enrollment in an Associate Nursing program with completion of at least one year of nursing curriculum.
• Or completion of a BSN/Associate Nursing program with application to take the NCLEX.
• Extending the expected graduation date due to failing grades or dropping out of a Nursing program is grounds for automatic termination as a Nurse Extern.
• Employment as a Nurse Extern will cease up to 3 months after graduation; externs may then apply for employment as a Registered Nurse.

Credentials

• AHA or American Red Cross BLS certification.
