Job Summary and Qualifications
The Nurse Educator Medical Surgical enhances professional practice and patient care by providing evidence-based educational programs and activities. This role involves developing, coordinating, managing, facilitating, conducting, and evaluating onboarding and orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel.
- Participates in the development, coordination, and management of competency programs.
- Designs and identifies educational activities to address practice gaps for identified target audiences.
- Develops activities to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill, and practice.
- Promotes and integrates Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) to continuously improve practice.
- Conducts, encourages, facilitates, and/or participates in research, EBP, and Quality Improvement (QI) in patient care settings.
- Identifies and develops strategies to facilitate a continuous process of maturation through lifelong learning.
- Utilizes the novice-to-expert continuum when developing staff.
- Identifies and provides opportunities for skill enhancement and mastery.
What Experience and Education Are Needed for This Role?
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
- A Master’s degree in nursing is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in clinical education, CSC, academia, or leadership is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in acute care hospital is preferred.
- Nationally Recognized Specialty certification is preferred.
- Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification is required.
- Currently licensed as an RN in the state of practice or has an active compact state license in accordance with law and regulation is required.
