Nurse Education Coordinator

About the role

The Nurse Education Coordinator for Surgical Services plans, coordinates, and evaluates education programs for Operating Room staff, including RNs, Surgical Technologists, and ancillary personnel. This role maintains clinical proficiency by scrubbing into surgical cases, mentoring staff in sterile techniques, and supporting complex procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs, plan and delegate care, and evaluate patient responses.
• Promote patient and family education.
• Develop and revise staff training programs for Operating Room personnel.
• Conduct in-service education sessions.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Maintain mastery of aseptic techniques and surgical proficiency across specialties.
• Participate in hospital committees and maintain professional development.
• Monitor and ensure high-quality patient care through ongoing education and quality initiatives.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing (RN).
• Current RN license.
• Current CPR and ACLS certification.
• Minimum of 4 years of OR/surgical experience.
