Placement within the salary range of $34.50 - $55.20 (hourly) is dependent on relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement is guided by the collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment; ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and report deficiencies to supervisor.
• Assume responsibility for and supervision of the appropriate care of medical equipment.
• Provide pre-attending care for patients, including comprehensive assessments of chief complaints and patient needs using the nursing process. Document all nursing assessments clearly and completely in the patient’s medical record.
• Perform routine nursing duties (phlebotomy, medication administration, vital signs, lab specimen preparation) and demonstrate clinical competency in specialty-related procedures (conscious sedation, chemotherapy administration, wound care, etc.). Interpret test abnormalities and take appropriate remedial action.
• Communicate and collaborate with other clinical and administrative departments, as well as outside agencies or facilities, to coordinate patient care.
• Triage and prioritize incoming telephone calls using clinical assessment skills; document all assessments in the patient’s medical record.
• Manage urgent/emergent medical situations in accordance with organizational protocols; operate emergency equipment as required.
• Serve as a resource for staff and physicians for daily problem-solving and decision-making; delegate tasks to Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants per Illinois law and organizational protocols.
• Comply with all existing patient care policies and procedures; recommend new policies to improve the patient experience.
• Initiate and coordinate patient education, ensuring understanding and return demonstration when pertinent. Provide formal and informal teaching to staff and participate in community outreach or specialty-related educational programs.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
• State Licensed Registered Nurse for the state of employment.
• Certification in Basic CPR.
• 2 years of relevant clinical experience in an acute or ambulatory care environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (may be required for certain positions).
