Key Responsibilities
- Auxiliary the Nurse Practitioner during medical evaluations and follow-up visits.
- Document clinical findings and treatment plans during rounds as directed by the NP.
- Prepare patients for examinations, including checking vital signs and reviewing current medication lists.
- Act as a liaison between the NP and the multi-disciplinary clinical team (counselors, case managers).
- Collaborate with the Medical Assistant (MA) regarding Medication Administration Records (MARS) and new orders by the NP.
- Support medication management and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) by administering and monitoring MAT medications like Buprenorphine, Naltrexone, or Vivitrol under NP supervision.
- Educate patients on medication side effects, adherence, and the physiological aspects of recovery.
- Coordinate pharmacy orders and prior authorizations for specialized addiction medications.
- Conduct regular withdrawal screenings using standardized tools such as the COWS and CIWA.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and Medication Administration Records (MARs) in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.
- Absolutely ensure all medical orders from the NP are executed promptly and documented correctly.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the clinical area and assist in the maintenance of medical supplies.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current, unrestricted RN/LPN license in the state of WI.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience; prior experience in behavioral health, SUD treatment, or detox settings is highly preferred.
- Certifications: Current BLS/ACLS certification.
- Language: Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.
