About the role
The Nurse provides nursing services to promote the physical health and well-being of Dallas College students. Health services are provided within an integrated care model within the Dallas College Student Care Network. Nurses work as part of a dynamic team of mental health and medical care professionals (including social workers, LPCs, psychologists) providing services to students within the Dallas College community. Nurses are essential for the daily clinical operations of the Dallas College Health Centers to ensure high-quality health services to students. Health Services includes a range of services including vaccinations, first aid, health counseling, and outreach.
Responsibilities
- Lead health center operations.
- Employ and deploy data-informed and results-oriented initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, supervision, or other employees.
- Engage in strategic planning, assessment of program effectiveness, and development of guidelines to enhance student success units within the institution and with accrediting bodies.
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, complex ideas and information to a variety of stakeholders within the Dallas College community and health care, social service network related to student basic mental health, physical, spiritual, and social needs.
- Respond appropriately to issues in a dynamic, rapidly changing educational/economic environment.
- Perform normal physical job functions within a standard office environment; reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with physical challenges.
- Work extended hours beyond the regular 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. workday, especially during heavy registration peak times including nights and weekends.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited nursing program. Official transcripts required.
- Three (3) years of related nursing experience.
- College health nursing, school nursing, or community health nursing preferred.
- Current and valid Texas driver’s license.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Texas; current CPR certification. Official licenses required.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Subject to a criminal background check; some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College.
- Skills in technological support and delivery of student programs and services; knowledge and skill in the use of integrated software systems; proficiency in Microsoft application software.
- Understanding of contemporary issues in higher education through professional development activities.
- Experience working with student support programs (counseling, health & wellness programs, etc.).
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student accessibility and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Pay
Salary minimum: $77,200.00 annually (Staff Range N07). FLSA status: Exempt.
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week. All positions are on-site; after six months of employment, some positions may be eligible to apply for a hybrid work arrangement based on job responsibilities, operational needs, supervisor approval, and Dallas College policy. Academic (Faculty) positions require an on-campus presence, even when teaching online courses, in accordance with state law.
