About the role

The Nurse On-Call provides nursing care with special emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms to hospice patients after hours. The On-Call RN provides nursing care with special emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms to the hospice patient after regular office hours. Implements physician plan of care and establishes a nursing plan of care based upon nursing process.

Responsibilities

• Communicates pertinent findings to the physician, implements medical treatment plan, instructs family accordingly
• Identifies problems/needs of patient or caregiver, making recommendations for pain management and comfort/symptom management
• Responds to calls promptly when received from answering service
• Is able to prioritize

Qualifications

• Licensed as an RN in the state of MA
• Ability to relate and treat terminally ill patients/families and their particular problems
• Must possess strong patient assessment, patient management and documentation skills
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation and communication skills
• Access to reliable automobile with proof of liability insurance
