Nurse Assistant - 5W Intensive Care Step Down

About the role

Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, contributes to the delivery of patient-centered care through: performance of selected day-to-day patient care activities; maintenance of an environment that is functionally and aesthetically conducive to patient well-being; demonstration of unit/area-designated competencies; and interaction with patients considering their developmental, age-specific, and cultural spiritual preferences.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN in effort to identify/attain treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.
• Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
• Performs other related job duties as requested.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Specialized education requirements (for those not meeting minimum six-month nursing assistance experience): acute care nursing assistant course preferred for acute care positions, or long term care nursing assistant course, or completion of an emergency medical technician program, or completion of a medical assistant program, or completion of a clinical rotation while participating in an accredited nursing program.
• Direct patient care experience preferred.
• Prior nursing assistant experience of at least six months required when the specialized education requirements above have not been met.
• BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN).

Schedule

Per Diem position. Night shift; daily work times vary. No on-call requirement. Weekends not required. Scheduled bi-weekly hours: 0; hours per pay period: 0.01.
