Nurse Assistant - 3rd Floor PCU - Part-Time - Days

As a Nurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assist with essential patient care tasks and actively contribute to a positive patient experience.

The 34-bed Progressive Care Unit specializes in telemetry and caring for acutely ill adult patients with a wide range of diagnoses. Whether helping manage chronic illnesses or supporting recovery from acute conditions, our team is dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and compassionate care to the Downriver community.
What You’ll Do
- Perform routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chemsticks.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.
- Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
Education/Experience Required
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)).
- Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing.
- Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license.
- Medical Assistant program (with or without experience).
- At least one (1) year of experience in a Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role.
- Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred.
Certifications/Licensures Required
- Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment.
- Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.
- Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
