Nurse Aide in Training - Non-Certified

Requirements

• Completed the state Nursing Assistant Certification (NAC) exams
• Hold a “NAC Pending” status
• Have not worked at another facility under your current NAR registration
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Currently enrolled in a State-approved CNA program (may work for a single consecutive period of four months; must meet certification requirements to become a CNA at the end of this period)
• CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation (must remain current during employment)

Responsibilities

• Provide routine daily nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse to ensure patient safety and well-being
• Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
• Implement and interpret nursing department programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
• Perform proficiently in competency areas including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
• Maintain professional working relationships with associates, vendors, and others
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and/or confidential information
• Adhere to company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
• Display integrity and professionalism by completing mandatory training (e.g., Code of Conduct)

Essential Functions

• Lift, turn, move, position, and transport patients under direct supervision
• Assist patients with baths, showers, personal grooming, feeding, and toileting
• Accurately document and chart patient care
• Respond to call lights promptly
• Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients
• Assist in patient evacuations
• Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
• Concentrate, use reasoning skills, and exercise good judgment
• Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
• Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
• Read, write, speak, and understand English
• Perform physical tasks: lift 35 lbs. floor to waist, lift 35 lbs. waist to shoulder, lift and carry 35 lbs., and push/pull 35 lbs.
