Qualifications

  • No education qualifications required for this position.
  • First aid knowledge and medical experience is preferred, not required.
  • Strong clerical, record keeping, computer, and written and oral communication skills are required.
  • The ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with peers and colleagues.
  • The ability to carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Displays a positive attitude and builds healthy relationships with students, staff and families.

Essential Functions

  • Must be comfortable assisting the school nurse in caring for children with injuries or illness.
  • Must be able to maintain a calm, caring, and confidential environment, especially in times of crisis.
  • Aid school nurse with paperwork required for health screenings.
  • Aid school nurse with health record keeping and computer data entry.
  • Responsible for daily attendance and follow up on excessive absences with office staff.
  • Responsible for providing student attendance data for and participation on attendance committee.
  • Ability to handle high volume of phone calls and daily activities in a busy office.
  • The successful candidate will be a person who has good interpersonal skills and is flexible, creative, calm, and open to constructive feedback.
  • Other duties as assigned by building administration.
