Nuclear Weapons Effects Modeling & Simulation Engineer/Scientist

About the Role

We are seeking a Nuclear Weapons Effects Modeling & Simulation Engineer/Scientist to support our growing business in modeling and simulation of physical phenomena within a 3D geometric modeling environment linked to a geographic information system (GIS). You will develop engineering and physics-based methodologies, analytical algorithms, and software tools that strengthen national security. Our work focuses on modeling diverse phenomena, including air blast, ground shock, and structural response, spanning a wide range of fidelity from fast-running physics-based models to high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics, molecular dynamics, and finite element approaches.

As part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team, you will integrate models into our simulation software and perform verification and validation to ensure realistic results. The nature of our research and development work varies, offering continuous challenges and opportunities to expand your expertise in new areas.

Responsibilities

• Develop or integrate a wide variety of models into modeling and simulation software.
• Perform verification and validation of models to ensure realistic and accurate results.
• Apply traditional physical modeling approaches as well as machine learning to solve critical problems.
• Collaborate in a dynamic team environment to advance national security initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Science or Engineering with 2-4 years of experience.
• Strong interest in and ability to develop modeling and simulation software in high-level languages (e.g., C++, Python, Java).
• Desire to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Eligibility to apply for and hold a U.S. security clearance (selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Science in Science or Engineering with 0-2 years of relevant work experience.
• Expertise in DoD modeling and simulation technology, structural dynamics, nuclear weapon effects, ground shock environments, geotechnical characterization, and/or probabilistic analysis.
• Familiarity with software design patterns, modern C++, and agile software development practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences through verbal and written mediums.

Schedule
