Nuclear Training Content Developer/Instructional Designer
About the role
The Nuclear Training Content Developer / Instructional Designer will update, revise, and modernize existing nuclear training materials to support accelerated qualification timelines (reduced from 1 year to 6–8 months). This role is time-critical and supports continuity of knowledge following prior operator turnover.
Responsibilities
- Review, update, and revise existing nuclear training and qualification materials
- Ensure training content aligns with DOE requirements, plant systems, and operational standards
- Apply the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) to content revisions
- Work closely with SMEs and instructors to validate technical accuracy
- Convert and standardize training materials for classroom and digital delivery
- Identify gaps in current training content and recommend improvements
- Ensure instructional quality, clarity, and regulatory compliance
- Support accelerated qualification timelines through streamlined content updates
Requirements
- Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Education/Training, or a related technical field and 10+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience developing or revising training materials in a nuclear or highly regulated environment
- Experience applying SAT methodology
- Strong technical writing and curriculum development skills
- Prior nuclear training or instructional design experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Navy Nuclear (Navy Nuke) background
- Familiarity with DOE Core training and plant systems
