Nuclear Quality Assurance Engineer
About the role
We are seeking an onsite Nuclear Quality Assurance Engineer to join our DOE & Renewables BU at our Spring, Texas facility. This role is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and improving the company’s Nuclear Quality Assurance Program, ensuring nuclear products, services, and suppliers meet applicable regulatory, code, and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and apply nuclear quality requirements including ASME Section III, ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR Part 21, ISO 19443, and ISO 9001.
- Implement and maintain the Nuclear Quality Assurance Program across the supply chain, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and testing activities.
- Serve as a primary quality interface with customers, regulators, Authorized Inspection Agencies (AIA), and registrars (e.g., NRC, ASME, NUPIC).
- Support and participate in ASME certification audits, customer audits, and supplier audits.
- Support and maintenance of ASME certificates.
- Review nonconformance reports, corrective actions, and evaluations for 10 CFR Part 21 applicability.
- Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support preparation of ASME Code Data Report Forms for Section III components.
- Organize and maintain nuclear quality records in accordance with retention requirements.
- Define and develop quality standards for receiving in-process and final inspection in accordance with company and contractual requirements.
- Meet with customers, vendors, and various internal stakeholders to resolve quality problems and to provide information.
- Participate in and lead audits.
- Provide technical support to inspection personnel as needed.
- Support development, control, and maintenance of QA procedures, work instructions, and records.
Requirements
- Experience supporting FOAK hardware, rapid program development, or hybrid nuclear/DOE environments.
- Qualification or progress toward NQA-1 Lead Auditor.
- Ability to derive and analyze data to develop trend charts.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and standard quality tools.
- 3-5 plus years of experience working in the nuclear industry.
- BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline in Navy or Military school.

Qualifications

Skills
- Basic understanding of ASME Section III, 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR21, and NQA-1.
- Desire to be trained and mentored to achieve an expert level of understanding of these standards.
- Prior experience in AP 1000, SMR/ MMR advanced reactor startups, national laboratories, or first-of-a-kind (FOAK) programs is a strong plus.
- Previous ASME Survey experience is highly desirable.
Pay
Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional travel to other W-Industries facilities.
