Nuclear Medicine - PET Tech

About the Role

The Advanced Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates imaging equipment and software proficiently, primarily nuclear medicine imaging equipment, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires expertise in operating specialized equipment, ensuring radiation safety, and maintaining high-quality imaging standards while prioritizing effective patient communication and safety. The position also demands a strong commitment to patient care, technical expertise, and collaborative communication with patients and healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.

Responsibilities

• Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment and software proficiently.
• Ensure radiation safety and maintain high-quality imaging standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Adhere to biohazard safety and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations.
• Follow ALARA standards for radiation safety.
• Apply strong decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
• Adjust protocols as needed and follow complex instructions with attention to detail.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Radiology Sciences Program in Nuclear Medicine with required clinical hours completed.
• One (1) year of relevant experience.
• State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
• Certification/Registration: NMTCB or ARRT (N).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Thorough knowledge and understanding of biohazard safety and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations.
• Strong understanding of proper radiation safety by following ALARA standards.
• Excellent decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to adjust protocols as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
