Overview
System One is seeking a Nuclear Mechanical Equipment Manager to manage a team of professionals and provide assistance and mentorship on technical work. This role is open to remote support with travel; however, onsite in Oregon or Houston, TX is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead planning, coordinating, and executing work related to NSSS appurtenance and other components of the NPM.
- Lead peer reviews and technical audits to ensure conformance to requirements.
- Manage the preparation and review of engineering deliverables including Design Specification, Loading reports, Design drawings, Interface Control Drawings, Calculations, Vendor design Scopes of Work, Vendor oversight activities, QME/EQ Specifications.
- Provide technical and advisory assistance to other projects and offices.
- Participate in developing and updating company technical standards and practices.
- Prepare estimates, schedules, labor, and material forecasts.
- Understand and apply sound approaches and standards for solving technical problems in applicable disciplines, and lead cross-functional projects within areas of responsibility.
- Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving timecards, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
- Develop technical statements of work.
- Evaluate performance, administer coaching, and conduct annual performance reviews.
- Develop training materials in areas of subject matter expertise.
- Develop team members’ capabilities in support of individual career goals and team objectives.
- Interface and coordinate with internal and external clients as required for successful project execution.
- Develop effective relationships within the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering; professional engineer license and an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- At least eight years of full-time, progressively responsible engineering experience; lead and/or managerial experience preferred.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theories for NSSS appurtenance design.
- Proven track record of leading staff from multiple disciplines and coordinating design interfaces.
Qualifications
- Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
