Responsibilities And Duties Operating and maintaining chemistry equipment, and analytical instrumentsResponsible for documenting and logging chemistry dataParticipate in a thorough chemistry training program Working Conditions Shift work that may include nights and weekendsSome travel that may include overnight travelNuclear plant environment with exposure to cold, heat, noise, radiation, chemicals, and confined spaces Basic / Required Qualifications Nuclear Chemistry Technician I High School Diploma or GEDSuccessfully completed one of the following:US Navy ELT OR equivalent experience and trainingGraduate from a 2 year accredited technical school in science, engineering, or technologyRelated Nuclear Plant Initial Training program (Operations NLO, RP, etc.)Minimum of 1 year related technical training in Chemistry or Radiochemistry, exclusive of the experience requirement Nuclear Chemistry Technician II BA/BS degree in chemistry or related science or an AS degree in chemistry and four years of experience or six years nuclear navy experience or equivalent or completed the Nuclear Plant Initial Training Program for Chemistry, non-license operator, RP or equivalent.2 years of work-related experience. Desired Qualifications Nuclear Chemistry initial training program or equivalentUS Navy ELT OR equivalent experience and trainingRelated nuclear plant initial training program (Non-Licensed Operator, Radiation Protection, etc.)BS or BA in ChemistryExperience with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Access, etc.)One semester of English composition or technical writingPrevious nuclear plant chemistry or related experienceKnowledge of nuclear plant systemsCurrent qualification as a Nuclear Chemistry Technician with a nuclear utilityMinimum of 2 years working experience involving Chemistry and RadiochemistryExperience with Operation and maintenance of the following equipment:Ion Chromatography (IC)Flame and Furnace AA / ICPGas ChromatographyLiquid Scintillation counterTOC analyzersSpectrophotometersGamma SpectroscopyExperience with the use of a Chemistry Data Management SystemExperience with the generation of liquid and gaseous release permitsStrong team player with a focus on continual improvementFor South Carolina positions only “SC Biological Wastewater Treatment Class “A” or “B”” or for North Carolina positions only “NC Biological Wastewater Treatment Class “I” or “II”” Specific Requirements Must be able to obtain Nuclear AccessRespiratory physicalAbility to lift and carry 50 poundsAbility to meet Chemistry essential job functions (climbing, lifting, pushing, pulling, ability to wear protective equipment, etc.)This role requires the use of weight rated equipment, with max ratings ranging from 275lbs to 325lbs, in order to meet the essential functions of the job.This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty.Must live within 75 minutes response time to the plant.
