Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintaining regular, substantive contact with assigned mentees — at minimum twice per month for first-year teachers and once per month for second- and third-year teachers.
- Conducting classroom observations with structured, non-evaluative feedback and NTSP approved tools.
- Participating in required NTSP mentor meetings, professional learning sessions, and program events.
- Documenting mentoring activity through NTSP’s reporting systems.
- Representing NTSP professionally in schools, with teachers, and in the broader community.
Qualifications
- A master's degree.
- A current or previously held Virginia Professional or Postgraduate Teaching License.
- At least three years of successful classroom teaching experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting novice teachers through mentoring, coaching, or other professional learning experiences.
- Demonstrated experience supporting teachers in culturally and linguistically diverse school communities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with web-based collaboration platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet) and standard productivity applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
- Reliable high-speed internet access and a computer or tablet with video conferencing capabilities.
- The ability to respond to program communications within one business day.
