NSA Summer Internship Programs at our Fort Meade, MD location offer students impactful professional work opportunities to grow their knowledge of the Intelligence Community and federal government while advancing NSA's two primary missions: collecting, analyzing, and producing foreign signals intelligence, and providing cybersecurity solutions and guidance to protect critical national infrastructure.

About the role

The Cyber Summer Program (CSP) is the National Security Agency's premier intern program for top undergraduate and graduate students in cybersecurity, computer engineering, information assurance, computer forensics, systems engineering, and network engineering. This 12-week paid program runs from mid-May to mid-August, providing interns the opportunity to contribute to NSA's critical cyber-related missions of national importance. Interns gain hands-on experience, deepen their understanding of the Intelligence Community, and develop professional skills while working alongside accomplished NSA professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to NSA’s mission of collecting, analyzing, and producing foreign signals intelligence.
  • Provide cybersecurity solutions and guidance to protect critical national infrastructure.
  • Work on mission-critical problems and gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity, computer engineering, or related fields.
  • Collaborate with NSA professionals on projects of national importance.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program (undergraduate, graduate, or doctorate) at the time of application.
  • Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must be eligible for a TS/SCI security clearance, including a background investigation, Full-scope Polygraph, and Psychological Evaluation.
  • Must be available for operational and technical interviews (in-person or via telephone/internet) between October 2026 and April 2027.
  • Must complete an Unproctored Internet Testing (UIT) requirement measuring cognitive ability, motivation, and English proficiency.

Note: Other majors may be considered, but those listed above are highly recommended.

Pay

Students are paid a competitive salary commensurate with their education level.

Schedule

  • All internships are 10–12 weeks during the summer (mid-May to mid-August).
  • Daily transportation to and from work is not provided; students are encouraged to bring a vehicle (carpooling may be available but is not guaranteed).
