NPI Test Technician -2nd Shift
About the role
Incumbents may determine best methods and procedures to complete assignments. Tasks are complex in nature requiring considerable judgment and initiative in resolving problems and making recommendations. Decisions/actions may have an impact on the department’s goals and may go beyond the department. Works under minimum supervision. Situations not covered by standard processes, procedures and methods are referred to manager or expert resource. May provide functional guidance to others performing similar work. May be considered the expert in areas assigned. Builds internal and external relationships that require exchanging information and providing some explanations in a problem-solving capacity.
Responsibilities
- Provides complex technical support for printed circuit boards, subassemblies, production equipment or other related company products.
- Sets up, and performs new, unusual, or involved tests, procedures, experiments, simulations, or changes.
- Reads and analyzes schematic diagrams, circuit descriptions and similar technical information.
- Sets up, operates, and adjusts test sets and auxiliary equipment.
- Proves tests and test sets.
- Affords assistance in the designs for, and performs the debug of test fixtures, test cables and other test equipment.
- Designs and lays out circuitry for test fixtures to interface products to bench testing and specialized automated test equipment.
- Updates test bed software.
Requirements
- Engineering Foundation Competencies
- Knowledge of electrical, electromechanical and pneumatic systems and principals of operation.
- Strong knowledge of the setup, operation, and maintenance of specific equipment sets used in manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly and fabrication procedures.
- Strong knowledge of electronic circuitry and testing and debugging procedures.
- Knowledge of computer programming and ability to use applications specific to this position, such as C++, ECAD, MCAD, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret product specifications, schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to use hand and power tools required for test assembly.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical measurement, calibration and test equipment, their uses and applications.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Ability to analyze equipment and systems, troubleshoot problems and make appropriate repairs.
- Knowledge of digital electronics and repair methodologies.
- Knowledge of personal computers and Windows applications.
- Excellent knowledge of quality standards.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal customers.

Qualifications
- Two to four years’ relevant experience.
- Two or three year community college diploma in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
