Responsibilities
- Develop electrical, mechanical, and/or non-metallic design content with data-based justifications.
- Create designs through a detailed understanding of WIEC manufacturing capabilities and best practices.
- Develop and maintain technical relationships with suppliers.
- Apply advanced understanding of GD&T requirements and manufacturing process capabilities for design execution.
- Serve as a technical authority for 5-7 key cab main component design areas.
- Coordinate the purchasing, fabrication, and build of cab prototypes and pre-production units.
- Provide concise and effective technical guidance and communication to customers; build effective technical communication paths.
- Ensure designs meet all relevant industry standards and codes.
- Document all design decisions with appropriate justification in design files.
- Lead design reviews and support justification for design decisions.
- Contribute to root cause analyses processes for effective problem definition and development of corrective actions.
- Translate end-user functional requirements into product specifications.
- Proactively identify and mitigate design risks prior to prototype and pre-production builds.
- Develop design recommendations and provide fact-based justifications to internal and external customers.
- Deliver accurate designs meeting customer needs (both internal and external).
- Maintain accurate and complete design files and records.
- Create accurate build drawings.
- Meet all due dates.
- Mentor and develop junior staff.
- Improve WIEC Engineering specifications and drafting standards, including GD&T.
- Provide strong manufacturing support.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience with demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge in respective area, including:
- Advanced design ability for new design work, ensuring clean release of several major projects into production.
- Evidence of clean design files and budget control.
- Proficiency in performing engineering calculations.
- Proficient with Pro-Engineer, SolidWorks, or similar 3D modeling software.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing practices.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
