NPD Chemist Intern - Summer 2027

Fenner Precision Polymers offers an internship with the New Product Textile Engineering Team in Manheim/Lititz, PA. The intern will support product, process, and testing needs for the textile product category as part of the New Product Development Team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct lab testing on polyurethanes, silicones, and textiles according to product development needs.
• Help develop, set up, and execute experiments for new technologies for our products.
• Develop proficiency in emerging technologies, including AI‑enabled tools, to support project work, data analysis, content creation, and operational efficiency under the guidance of team leaders.
• Operate computer‑controlled test equipment and analyze data.
• Update product specifications and maintain technical documentation.
• Write analytical reports based on experimentation conducted.
• Develop new tests and document associated work instructions.
• Participate in R&D projects.
• Test alternative fabrics (e.g., quartz, MWPE) and evaluate their applications.

Core Competencies

• Utilize basic chemistry competencies in evaluating and testing products.
• Record and interpret measured properties of lab tests.
• Apply chemistry principles such as stress, strain, and coefficient of friction.
• Perform statistical analysis of test results.
• Demonstrated novel problem‑solving abilities.
• Working knowledge of basic lab equipment and software (e.g., MTS, hot presses, Microsoft Office suite).

Education and Experience

• Minimum of two years of college coursework in a related field.
