About the role
The successful candidate will provide inpatient care at ECU Health Medical Center, a 974-bed level 1 trauma facility, regional leader for Neurosciences, and eastern North Carolina’s only Comprehensive Stroke Center.
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient care at ECU Health Medical Center, including consults, first call, rounding, pulling of drains, admissions and discharges.
- Work with a multidisciplinary team of 11 neurosurgeons, including 2 dual-trained cerebrovascular neurosurgeons, an interventional neurologist, inpatient stroke neurologists, 4 neurointensivists, neurologists, and nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
- Participate in the management of patients with neurological disorders, including complex spine, cerebrovascular surgery, and brain tumor resections.
- Provide 24/7 coverage in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) with a dedicated team of NP/PA’s.
- Utilize advanced technologies such as Gamma Knife, NeuroBlate, and RAPID for patient care.
Requirements
- Possess a current license to practice as a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in North Carolina.
- Hold a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
- Have completed a residency program in Neurosurgery or related field.
- Maintain current BLS certification from The American Heart Association.
Qualifications
- Experience in acute care settings is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
