NP-PA-Critical Care
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Physician-in-Chief for Medicine, receive oversight and supervision from a consulting Intensivist, perform diversified duties in being responsible for the care of patients who are located in the Intensive Care Unit, assigned under direction of individual attending Physicians under the rules and regulations of Massachusetts governing Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner practices.
Provide a variety of inpatient care and services, participate as required in scheduled daily rounds, perform initial history and physical, consultation and/or follow-up care, prepare patients for transfer or discharge, under the supervision of individually assigned Physician as part of daily activities.
Adhere to all quality-of-care measure and patient safety standards.
Participate in scheduled night and weekend call.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required.
- Graduate of an A.M.A.-approved Physician Assistant program is required.
- Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Physician Assistant is required.
- Masters of Science Degree in Nursing is required.
- Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Nurse Practitioner is required.
- Current Massachusetts R.N. registration is required.
- Nurse Practitioner Certificate/Physician Assistant Certificate is required.
- Qualified in all basic and advanced cardiac support standards as set by the American Heart Association is required.
- Proven ability to care for critically ill adult patients with a broad range of medical problems is required.
- Proven ability to demonstrate maturity, self-confidence and the ability to follow complex patient management plans as directed by the attending surgeon is required.
- Over three years up to and including five years' experience is required.
- Critical care experience is preferred.
- Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants within one year of hire is required.
- Qualified in all basic and advanced cardiac support standards is required.
Qualifications
- Physician Assistant: Bachelors Degree in a related field is required. Graduate of an A.M.A.-approved Physician Assistant program is required. Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Physician Assistant is required.
- Nurse Practitioner: Masters of Science Degree in Nursing is required. Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Nurse Practitioner is required. Current Massachusetts R.N. registration is required. Nurse Practitioner Certificate/Physician Assistant Certificate is required.
- Qualified in all basic and advanced cardiac support standards as set by the American Heart Association is required.
Skills
- Ability to care for critically ill adult patients with a broad range of medical problems.
- Ability to demonstrate maturity, self-confidence and the ability to follow complex patient management plans as directed by the attending surgeon.
- Experience in critical care is preferred.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Pay
USD $66.00 - USD $88.00 /Hr.
Schedule
Per Diem – flexible shifts & hours 7A-7P or 7P-7A Shift: Day, nights – weekend, holiday rotation.
