Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care management to high acuity patients including performing histories and physicals, admits, and discharges.
- Conducts patient visits prior to surgery and provides discharge teaching afterward.
- Prescribes medications, including narcotics.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates nursing medical care in collaboration with a physician.
- Initiates or modifies medical treatment within an established plan of medical protocol.
- Assists with consults, writes orders, coordinates with consulting physicians, and accompanies physicians on rounds.
- Analyzes clinical data; orders and/or performs necessary diagnostic tests or procedures; develops, implements, and evaluates the therapeutic regimen.
- Teaches and provides support for patients and their families; minimizes fragmentation by providing coordination of care; manages transition of the patient to step-down units or to outpatient settings; serves as patient advocates.
Qualifications
- Masters degree in Nursing
- ACLS; RN; BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Current/unrestricted RN license
- Advanced Practice License
- ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) certification
