NP or PA - Addiction Medicine
Location: Life Center of Galax, 112 Painter St., Galax, VA 24333
Compensation Range: $60-$70 per hour
About the Role
The Life Center of Galax is Virginia's leading residential, outpatient, and detox rehab center for drug addiction and alcohol abuse, specializing in residential rehab, detox, opiate dependency recovery, methadone maintenance, and outpatient programs. We are seeking a full-time Addiction Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support patients receiving specialized psychiatric care. Autonomous practice is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical evaluations and treatment of patients under the supervision of the Medical Director, collaborating with medical and clinical staff within state licensure guidelines.
- Diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illness, independently or as part of a healthcare team.
- Participate in the formulation of patient Master Treatment Plans.
- Assess physical and psychiatric health of patients and formulate measures to meet their needs.
- Chart clinical observations (direct or through dictation), evaluations, and treatment within required timeframes and facility guidelines.
- Communicate with physicians and staff to provide quality care within appropriate guidelines.
- Encourage family involvement in patient care and respond to educational needs.
- Support and follow legal requirements, hospital policies, medical staff bylaws, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide services in accordance with state guidelines for Nurse Practitioners.
- Take on on-call responsibilities as scheduled by the medical staff.
- Focus on health promotion and disease prevention; order, perform, or interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays.
- Prescribe medication as needed.
- Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward patients; prioritize patient safety and resolve complaints.
Requirements
- Master’s in Nursing and completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
- Clinical experience working with the facility’s patient population; knowledge of limit setting, therapeutic boundaries, crisis management, and patient care.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner preferred.
Qualifications
- Board Certified Nurse Practitioner.
- Licensed to practice in the state where the facility operates.
- DEA license.
