About the role

Join a fast-paced local CPA tax department! Colleen Black & Co. is seeking a Tax Accountant to be part of our award-winning income tax preparation and compliance team. In this role, you will support all aspects of the tax preparation and compliance process, gaining exposure to a variety of challenging tax issues facing individuals and businesses. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and can collaborate closely with our experienced team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal and state income taxes for individuals and businesses
• Conduct basic tax research and planning
• Manage small business bookkeeping
• Assist with client communication as needed
• Prepare calculations, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for small businesses
• Identify areas for process improvements and implement solutions to streamline tax preparation
• Assist with special projects as required

Requirements

• Proficient computer skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Team player with a positive attitude and high ethical standards
• Basic knowledge of U.S. federal and state income tax matters

Preferred Qualifications

• Tax experience in public accounting
• CPA or CPA candidate
• Experience with Drake Tax or similar tax software
• Flexibility to thrive in a dynamic environment
• Ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines
• High proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office programs
