About the role

The position involves assisting with Northern Bobwhite trapping, radio-telemetry tracking, and nest checking as part of larger experimental studies. Other duties include data entry, equipment maintenance, and travel between sites.

Responsibilities

  • Trapping quail – 40% of time
  • Tracking quail – 40% of time
  • Data entry – 10% of time
  • Equipment maintenance – 5% of time
  • Travel between sites – 5% of time

Requirements

  • Should be working towards a degree in wildlife management or a closely related field.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Microsoft Excel, databases, and ArcGIS is desired.
  • Previous experience with radio-telemetry is desired.
  • An interest in game bird management and ecology.
  • A good driving record.
  • An agreement/understanding of consumptive wildlife management practices.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to be a team player.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel, databases, and ArcGIS.
  • Previous experience with radio-telemetry.
  • Previous gamebird work experience.
  • Previous telemetry, field research, and computer experience.

Physical Demands

Lift up to 50 lbs. for brief periods and work in inclement weather. Driving required.
